Fun Water Activities For Kids
This summer is shaping up to be H-O-T! How do you convince your kids to enjoy some fresh air when it’s way too warm out? Easy: check out our list of water activities for some fun in the sun while staying cool. Some you can do at home, and some are perfect to do at the In-Shape pool!
- Marco Polo – Here’s a classic pool tag game. Whoever is “it” keeps their eyes closed and counts to ten. After that, they can start trying to find and tag other people with their eyes closed. They can yell “Marco” as often as they want, and all players have to respond with “Polo.” Want to switch it up? Have the person who is “it” yell the name of an animal and have the rest of the kids respond with the sound that animal makes.
- Sprinklers – If you have a front or backyard, turn on the sprinklers for instant summer fun! Freeze tag, Duck Duck Goose, or other classic games are way better when the sprinklers are on.
- Water balloon fights – You know the drill. If you want a less competitive way to have fun with water balloons, try playing catch until someone gets splashed!
- Colors – In this tag game, “It” stands outside the pool with their back to the other players. The other players choose a color (but keep it a secret). “It” starts calling out colors, and when a swimmer hears their color called, they must try to silently swim to the other side of the pool. If the "it" player hears them swimming, they can turn around and try to tag them!
- Water guns – Enjoy a classic water gun fight, or set up targets for the kids to shoot with their water guns.
