5 Ways To Make Your Family Healthier Today

In-Shape | 19 May, 2022 | Wellness Tips & Trends | Return|

Making big changes for your family, like meal prepping or training for a 5K together, are great, but for many parents, these long-term goals feel overwhelming, especially as we head into summer.

You might be surprised how much good a tiny change can do. Check out our list below of simple, actionable things you can do TODAY to improve the health and happiness of your family.

1. Schedule doctor check-ups and dental cleanings

Are you and your kids up to date on your annual check-ups? Bringing everyone to their doctor and dentist appointments is a pain, but keeping everyone healthy is well worth it. Schedule these appointments today so you can cross them off your to-do list.

2. Go to the park—or just walk around the block

Spending time outside is good for your body and mind, and a trip to the park can improve your kids’ social skills, self-esteem, and critical thinking skills. If you don’t have time for the park, take the kids with you on a walk around the block. Even a short walk together will give you some extra time to talk about your day.

3. Get in a workout

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Part of taking care of your family is taking care of yourself—and that includes acts of self-care like getting your workout in. Make a reservation for your kids in our Kid Zone and we’ll make sure they have some fun while you enjoy your favorite studio fitness class.

4. Sign up for healthy grocery delivery

If finding time to shop is a pain-point for you every week and you have some wiggle room in your grocery budget, signing up for grocery delivery can be a game-changer. While you do have to pay more to have someone shop for you and bring groceries to your door, there can be savings you may not have considered: you can more carefully stick to your budget when choosing groceries online, and you avoid the impulse buys that usually make their way into your cart. Check out services like Instacart, Amazon Fresh, Imperfect Foods, or Hungryroot to see if they might be a good fit for your family.

5. Set a bedtime… for everyone

Your youngest kids likely already have a bedtime, but do you? According to the CDC, 1 in 3 adults say they need more sleep, and we all know how important sleep is for your health. Setting (and sticking to!) a bedtime will help you feel more rested and ready for your day. Not to mention that getting enough sleep lowers your risk for serious health problems and can help you get sick less often, which is an obvious benefit for your family.
